Toyota Corolla (9th gen) Review and Price in Pakistan

Toyota, the Japanese company that is known for its reliability, no matter how old the car. You would be definitely helpful when you least expect it to be. One of the most reliable cars in this world is the Toyota Corolla, a subcompact sedan car that was built with enough power and better fuel economy.

In this review we have the Toyota Corolla, the 9th generation made in Pakistan.
This car was the first generation in Pakistan that introduced the beige color in its interior and a whole new shape.
This corolla was introduced in Pakistan in 2002, there were 3 variants XLI, GLI and SE Saloon.

So XLI would be the base variant, then GLI then SE Saloon. All are in-line 4 engines. The XLI and GLI variants came with the same 2NZ-FE 1.3L engine producing 84 HP, but some features would be available in GLI like power windows, so you could say GLI was better than XLI. The SE Saloon on the other hand was the car that came with a 1ZR-FE 1.6 engine and the diesel 2C 2.0 engine and some significant cosmetic changes like alloy wheels, body color side mirrors and door handles and fog lights. Across all these variants there was no option for automatic gear, however the later SE Saloon got an automatic a gear as well as another variant with a 1.8 liter engine.

If we look at the demand of this car, the GLI and XLI variants were widely popular because it used to consume less fuel just because it had a smaller engine. The fuel economy on the 1.3 engine was around 12 to 14 km per liter in city, while on highway it would go up to 18 km per liter. The 1.6 and 1.8 engine can give an average around 9 to 19 km per liter in city and 15+ km per liter. It all depends on how you drive the car and take care of it.

In terms of maintenance, it costs very less, and this car will be able to function well even if u treat it rough. You would be able to find parts easily and in reasonable price too. This car is a comfortable family car as it has comfortable seats, soft suspension, wide boot space enough to have 2 big suitcases and 1 small suitcase or travel bag. I think it checks up all the boxes of reliability and comfort and overall a good car to drive in Pakistan.

Due to the recent dollar rate increase in Pakistan as well as inflation, the prices of this car had been unstable. This car used to cost from 8 to 15 lac, depending on model and which variant it was.
February 2023, this car now ranges from 12 to 20 lac, the GLI and XLI variants being the expensive ones (15+ lac) and the others being the cheapest; but they are found in good conditions.
